Roll Call

Okay, this might sound weird, but bear with me.

I don’t tend to get many comments on my posts these days. It’s a combination of writing entries that people don’t feel they can respond to and writing entries that don’t call for responses, I think. Because I’ve not been getting many comments, I don’t really know who visits any more.

So I thought I’d ask this: if you read this, would you leave a comment? The comments are set up so you don’t need to have a Blogger account to leave one. And if you don’t want to comment in such a way as to leave a link to your blog, you don’t have to. In fact, if you’d rather not admit to other people that you read, just leave a comment that will somehow let me know who you are but doesn’t necessarily let other people know (except for you, Dave – none of this “Al J. Schmickfoonsie” business).

This experiment could go totally awry when nobody leaves a comment, but it might also lead me to blogs I’d like to be reading but don’t even know about. I’ve done a risk/reward assessment and decided to take the chance.

When you’ve left a comment, put something like this up on your blog so I can come by and tell you I’ve been reading, too.

Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, the battle within! I was torn between not leaving a comment on the chance that no one else would either which would utterly destroy your entire test, or being able to be the first person to post. Which really means that it comes down to personal satisifaction on my part or humiliating a friend. It turn out that it is all about me.

I read this blog, the whole thing, every day. It's all I do.

  4. Angela says:

This might sound weird, but I swear to the Heavens I have read that post from you before. Not even kidding, I was reading, and I know that I've read that somewhere before.

Please tell me I'm not hallucinating.

  5. Meags says:

Your readers are more compliant than mine. I subscribe to you on Bloglines since Google Reader doesn't love you, so I'll never miss a post! Wee!

  6. TheBon says:

I read! Sometimes I don't comment because I don't "know" you very well so I feel weird. Plus, I'm not much of a commenter in general. I'm probably not going to post a "come comment" on my blog, so you'll have to just leave a comment on something that's there. ;) I swear it's not all knitting and sheep right now.

    (raising hand) HERE!

  8. HorizonPurple says:

My comment didn't happen. I was the first, dagnabit!

Now Mark is all "She said she'd commented and she hadn't" and I'm all "I did so where's my comment!" and… stuff.

  9. Lorelei says:

Always on my top five blogs to read.

  10. Quirky says:

Oddly enough, I stumbled across your blog. It reminded me a lot of my then boyfriend, now fiancee, and I just check by every once in awhile to see what you are up to. One of my favourite blogs was about when you came to Canada – since I'm a Canadian. I also found it interesting that you wrote about Tim Horton's…

I'm a lurker. Hope you don't hate me for it!

I just stumbled onto your blog when I was reading The Red Couch blog (you know who I am talking about) and seeing your comments posted there. I was courious and came a looking.
I read your "plea" for comments and just had to leave one. I don't have a blog of my own (to worried that no one would read it or ever make a comment on it) :)
So in order to "know" who I am, you will have to look at the CC ABF class list. I am the first one on the list.

    Yo, Ray!

It's too bad you think Ghostbusters is so much more quoteable than Casablanca. But Gknee has just informed me this movie is in your soul. So, I guess the fact that you have acutally watched Casablanca gives you credit – a little – but to prove yourself – what country is Boggy in when he sends the lady back with the German? AND, no googleing, I'll know! Ok, so now you've got another comment for your "desparate plea" quoting Mary – nice Mary!

  13. M. Kate says:

OK, Gknee and I just realized how stupid my question was – it's difficult to figure out where Casablanca is – like you need to watch to look at a map – so What's Boogy's name in the movie and/or Ingrid's. I'll accept either as legitimate proof.

  14. BNick says:

A person this insecure shouldn't have a public blog.

I reads ya, mister. *nods in earnest*

You need to hand out cookies or something for those of us who answered. Cuz you KNOW there are a whole bunch who won't, no matter what you say or do.

  21. Brian Arnold says:

I've been slow lately, but only because Google Reader hasn't been updating you for reasons that make no sense. Maybe I should issue a report or something in the tool.

I'm trying to get back into the habit of daily reading by stopping by. :D

  22. Bill T says:

Hmm. I found you through Twitter, and was curious… I might read more. If you're curious I'm at Livejournal.
